Bring a blanket or lawn chair and enjoy a movie under the stars with the Crown Point Library at Bulldog Park!
The library will host a series of outdoor movies beginning with The Little Mermaid this Friday, June 17 at Bulldog Park located at 183 S. West Street.
The gates to Bulldog Park will open at 7 p.m. and the movie will start at 7:30 p.m.
Families will enjoy interactive elements during the movie and receive a free goody bag (while supplies last). No pets or outside food/beverages are allowed. Concessions are available for purchase.
Movie Nights with the Crown Point Library is a partnership between the library, and the City of Crown Point, and sponsored by the Friends of the Crown Point Library. Attendance is free, with no registration necessary.
The scheduled summer films include:
June 17: The Little Mermaid (1989) Walt Disney Pictures
July 8: Encanto (2021) Walt Disney Pictures
August 5: Matilda (1996) Columbia Pictures Industries Inc.
The library invites readers of ALL AGES to keep reading throughout the summer and the best way to do that is to participate in the library’s summer reading program! Ocean of Possibilities begins June 1 through July 31.

The Book Sale starts today and the Friends are selling more than books. A variety of items the library no longer uses will be added. These items will be located in meeting room three and will be for sale throughout the three-day book sale.
Friends members will have early access to the sale on Wednesday, April 27 at 1 p.m. The public sale begins at 2 p.m. If you are not a member of the Friends of the Crown Point Library, you can join any time prior to the book sale or at the door on the day of the sale.
All items are sold as is.
All sales are final.
All items must be taken the same day they are purchased.
No holds for unpaid items. Items that are paid for may be picked up later, on the same day, if the purchaser needs to arrange transportation and/or assistance if necessary. Failure to pick up items will result in forfeiture of payment.
The purchaser is responsible for the pickup and delivery of items to their vehicle. A dolly and rolling cart will be made available, by the library, to assist in transporting your item to your vehicle. Library staff or Friends volunteers are unable to assist with the delivery or transportation of your items.
Accepted forms of payment: Cash or check payable to the Friends of the Crown Point Library.

Mark your calendars for the next Friends of the Crown Point Library book sale on April 27-29, 2022. Fill a bag up with great books, movies, and for only $5 a bag! The Friends special three-day book sale only happens twice a year and Friends members have early access on Wednesday, April 27 at 1 p.m. Join now or at the door! The sale is open to the public beginning at 2 p.m.
This year, the Friends are adding surplus items that the library no longer uses, such as desks, chairs, tables, children’s toys, and more. Sales are cash or check only, and if you buy, you should be prepared to take the items with you on that day. There are no holds* and no deliveries. These items will be located in meeting room three throughout the book sale. A list of items, including pictures, will be posted on Facebook and our website the day before the sale.

On March 1, the Crown Point Community Library joined many other libraries throughout Indiana in partnership with the Indiana State Library and OverDrive to create a new collaborative sharing resource to benefit all eMaterial users in the state. This new resource is called the Indiana Digital Library (IDL). Read more about it here
It’s good to see your smile again!
Beginning March 7, in alignment with IDSH classification for Lake County and revised CDC masking guidelines, masks are no longer requested to be worn while visiting the library. Throughout the end of March, library programs, led by staff members, will still require participants over the age of 3 (and caregivers) to wear masks. This applies to all locations, thank you for your continued support and cooperation.
Early closure on St. Patrick’s Day!
As a reminder, the Crown Point location will be closing early at 5 p.m. on Thursday, March 17. The library will have limited access due to the City of Crown Point’s St. Patrick’s Day parade.

Library staff and the Board of Trustees wish you a Happy New Year! The library will close at 2 p.m. on December 31 and will be closed on Saturday, January 1, 2022.
Due to the current COVID surge and library staffing levels, adjustments to the library’s programming offerings are needed to ensure essential library services are maintained.
Beginning January 1, 2022:
All in-person programs for children are suspended until further notice. Weekly curbside “take & make” activities will continue.
All in-person adult programs, led by a staff member, require face masks.

Register and participate in our Winter Reading Event!
On Wednesday, December 8 the Winfield Branch will be open Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. for in-person library use. They will be closed on Saturday, December 11.
On Monday, December 13, all regular hours and services will resume.
The Winfield Branch has re-opened with limited service due to staffing.

Due to a staff shortage related to COVID-19, the Winfield Branch is temporarily closed until further notice. The holiday hours for the Crown Point location are: Closing at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, November 24, and closed on Thursday, November 24, and Friday, November 25.

The library has three monthly book clubs and a new club making its debut in October – True Crime Book Club. This club will meet quarterly and focuses primarily on crime and mystery.
The library’s book clubs are open to all community members and it is free to participate. Books assigned are available on special loan at the Circulation Desk, at both locations. Additional copies can be borrowed from the regular library collection in a variety of formats or through SRCS loan.
