Join the movement! #GivingTuesday

Posted by lclemons on

#GivingTuesday is a global day of giving that harnesses the collective power of individuals, communities, and organizations to encourage philanthropy and to celebrate generosity
worldwide. Following Thanksgiving and the widely recognized shopping events Black Friday and Cyber Monday, this year’s #GivingTuesday will take place on November 27 and will kick off the
giving season by inspiring people to collaborate and give back.

As our Library welcomes over 240,000 visitors a year, hosts thousands of programs, and circulates more than 375,000 items, it’s clear it is a valued community asset.
Public funding provides us with a strong, yet limited, financial base but our private donations and grants help build CPCL into an exceptional community resource.

Please support your Library by participating in #GivingTuesday! Your donation of any amount will allow the Library to expand programming and enhance services to
improve the quality of the lives of our patrons creating a stronger community.

To participate go online to www.crownpointlibrary.org/give and donate!
Share your enthusiasm for making a difference on social media and use the tag #GiveCPCL #GivingTuesday.

Donations can be mailed to:
Crown Point Community Library, 122 Main Street, Crown Point, IN 46307 – Attn: Giving
Phone: (219) 306-4599

Thank you for supporting the Crown Point Community Library!

Celebrating Dia de los Muertos at Winfield Library

Posted by lclemons on

On Thursday, November 1 at 5 p.m., teens and adults are invited to celebrate Dia de Los Muertos at the Winfield Branch Library. Dia de los Muertos, or Day of the Dead, is a Mexican holiday that honors family and friends who have died. Participants will learn more about the holiday by exploring our alter, decorating sugar skulls, face painting, and tasting authentic food.

Join us for this free program, to register call 662-4039 or sign up online.

Read more about the program held last year, by an attendee, Emily Lecke:

“The staff made this a wonderful event, from the presentation to the great spread of authentic foods and making crafts! I really loved decorating the sugar skulls and the opportunity to dress up and paint my face. This event was probably one of my overall favorite library programs as it taught me about a very special tradition. I don’t have the same fears I once had of spirits. I am planning to make an altar to honor my grandparents, whom I’ve never met –  it makes me happy to make an altar and show my love for them with treats and a meaningful display.”
