One District One Book
The One District, One Book initiative is a collaborative program presented by the Crown Point Community School Corporation and the Crown Point Community Library. This district-wide literacy effort engages all elementary students in reading the same book simultaneously, fostering a shared literary experience and strengthening the sense of community among students, families, and educators.
Each student receives a personal copy of the selected title to read with their family, while teachers integrate the book into classroom lessons.
The Crown Point Library complements these efforts by offering related programs and events designed to enrich the reading experience.
About the book: Hugo is a young Sasquatch who dreams of exploring the Big Wide World. Boone is a young boy who hopes to see a Sasquatch. When the two meet, they set off on an adventure to find mythical creatures—including Ogopogos and Snoot-Nosed Gints. Along the way, they discover that their worlds may not be as different as they first seem.
The library is adding to the excitement with a lineup of free programs throughout November. Students can join a live chapter read-aloud followed by a brief discussion and activity, meet nocturnal animal ambassadors from Humane Indiana, make bat-themed crafts, create a Sasquatch silhouette, play Bigfoot Bingo, and invent an original cryptid.

Live reading of chapters from Big Foot, Little Foot, followed by brief discussion and activity.

Discover the fascinating world of nocturnal animals! Children of all ages and their families are invited to meet real nocturnal animals and learn about their unique habits and behaviors. Humane Indiana will join us with their animal ambassadors for this special program.

See him now, then he’s gone! Young cryptid enthusiasts are invited to create their own Sasquatch silhouette and celebrate the mystery of the unknown with a unique piece of art.

Ever wanted to create your own mysterious creature? Now’s your chance! Kids in grades K–5 are invited to use their imaginations to design and create an original cryptid. All craft supplies will be provided.
