Welcome to our first Fandom Teen Night. Come to our Stranger Things party dressed as your favorite character. The best costume wins a prize. Enjoy our waffle bar while you make fandom buttons, create temporary tattoos, and team up for Stranger Things Trivia.

This year marks the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 mission. To celebrate, the Crown Point Community Library is hosting NASA Solar System Ambassador, B.J. Austin, to talk about NASA’s Apollo mission. Join us on Monday, July 8 at 6 p.m.. This program is free and no registration is required.

B.J. Austin is the president of an aerospace propulsion research and development and engineering services firm focused on furthering space exploration and space commercialization through advanced propulsion system designs. Mr. Austin’s roles include modeling systems, developing propellant formulations, designing combustion devices, and analyzing test results.
Mr. Austin is also president of Wabash Valley Astronomical Society (WVAS) located in West Lafayette, Indiana. WVAS is a group of dedicated amateur astronomers that work to expand their knowledge of astronomy and observing techniques and share their knowledge with the astronomy community and public.
Mr. Austin earned both his Bachelors of Science (1999) and Masters of Science in Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering (2002) from Purdue University.

“A Universe of Stories” is the theme of the Crown Point Community Library’s 2019 Summer Reading Program open to all ages. Explore the wonders of our universe and learn about the solar system. You are invited to come to the library and read for prizes, as well as to take part in special events offered, at both library locations, throughout the summer. The Library encourages everyone to try something new: learn new facts about space, read a new book, try a new craft, meet new people, and much more!
A special kick-off celebration event Is planned for Monday, June 10. The Winfield Branch Library will celebrate with a glow party from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. and the Crown Point Library will celebrate with some out-of-this-world crafts and activities from 1 – 3 p.m.!

The Crown Point Community Library is seeking an energetic, motivated individual to become its Programming & Outreach Librarian. Under the direction of Library Director, the Programming & Outreach Librarian supports Crown Point Community Library’s mission of being a community center for lifelong discovery by managing and scheduling the library’s adult programming and outreach services. Programming & Outreach Librarian performs duties requiring considerable judgment and initiative in planning and overseeing programming and outreach services for adults both within the library and outside the library.

Artist Tom Liubakka will present an art series that will introduce you to the use of two different art mediums and techniques, pastel and colored pencil. Pastel classes will be offered in the morning at 10 a.m on the dates listed below and Colored Pencil Techniques will be offered at 6 p.m. on the same dates. The classes are free but require registration and the purchase of personal supplies. Register online or call 306-4593.
