Walk The Dog
The library is thrilled to partner with the City of Crown Point on the “Walk The Dog” project celebrating the history of our great city!
On June 18, 2024, Mayor Pete Land, City staff, Crown Point Library, and Crossroads Chamber celebrated unveiling the “Walk the Dog” historic walking tour.
The tour features 10 historic sites around Crown Point. Each site has an informational panel highlighting the history of each location. Jeane Letcher, a Reference Department staff member who specializes in researching our local history and sharing it with the community, provided all the historical research.
In fall 2023, the City of Crown Point unveiled “Walk the Dog,” in collaboration with Chicago-based artist and Crown Point native Lewis Lain. “Walk the Dog” is a multi-faceted public art project anchored by a 4-foot-tall fiberglass bulldog painted to illustrate Crown Point’s rich history. The project includes a coloring book and a historic walking tour with signage depicting the historic sites showcased on the bulldog.

- The Werkowski family for making this project a reality and the Stewards of the Square, who inspired many with the original “Best in Show Exhibit” featuring dozens of bulldogs across Crown Point;
- Quality Impressions Print & Design, for printing the coloring books, and VKF Renzel USA Corp., for producing the walking tour signs.
