Mini Golf Is Coming!

Posted by lclemons on

The Crown Point Community Library is excited to announce their next Library Mini Golf Event, “A Hole Lot of Fun,” will be held on Saturday, April 14, 2018 from 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. The library will be transformed into an 18-hole miniature golf course for the day. The course will be set up throughout the first and second floors of the library, including a special “Family Fun Zone” in the meeting rooms that will feature free refreshments, games and more. Players of all ages will have “A Hole Lot of Fun” swinging their clubs through the library stacks!

So get your golf on and come play, explore and experience the library in a unique and fun way. A Family Fun Zone will be located at the end of the course in the library’s three meeting rooms. Light refreshments, games and other activities will be available to players at no extra charge. In addition, we will have raffle items donated by many of our community’s businesses.

The cost of the event is $5 per person or $20 for a group of five. One round of golf (putters, balls, scorecards will be provided to players) and admittance to the Family Fun Zone is included.

The library will be open for business during its normal Saturday hours, 9:00 – 5:00 p.m. Although there will be extra activity from the golfers and their fans, library staff will make every effort to provide the usual high level of service that the community expects. Patrons needing quiet library time are encouraged to visit the library on Friday or visit the Winfield Branch located at 10771 Randolph Street.

Library Mini Golf allows us to raise money for library programming for children, teen, and adults at the Crown Point Community Library and Winfield Branch Library. All the proceeds from this fundraising event will allow us to offer author/illustrator visits, literary impersonators, musicians and more to expand the traditional boundaries of library programming.

Our librarians have many ideas for new and exciting programs for the community. You can be part of our efforts by supporting this year’s “A Hole Lot of Fun” mini-golf fundraiser – a fun event for families and friends of all ages.

We are looking for raffle donations and sponsors. To promote your business or organization at the event contact Laura Clemons (219) 306-4599, email lclemons@crownpointlibrary.org or visit www.crownpointlibrary.org

Library will begin search for new director

Posted by lclemons on

The Crown Point Community Library will begin searching, mid-February, for a new library director as Selina Gomez-Beloz resigned to accept a position at the Waukegan Public Library. Gomez-Beloz announced on January 18 she would be leaving; her last day will be February 15.

“This was not an easy decision, but one that meets the needs of my family, my career growth, and personal growth,” Gomez-Beloz announced to her staff.

Gomez-Beloz arrived in December 2014 and has left her special mark with many literary initiatives and processes that will keep the library moving forward in the future.

The Board of Trustees will hold an Executive Session on Monday, February 5 at 5:00 p.m. with a special board meeting to follow. The Board will be posting the Director position internally, with the possibility of conducting a national search beginning sometime in mid-February.  The public is welcome to attend the special board meeting.

As the search gets underway, updates will be posted on the library’s website and Facebook page.
