On Thursday, November 1 at 5 p.m., teens and adults are invited to celebrate Dia de Los Muertos at the Winfield Branch Library. Dia de los Muertos, or Day of the Dead, is a Mexican holiday that honors family and friends who have died. Participants will learn more about the holiday by exploring our alter, decorating sugar skulls, face painting, and tasting authentic food.

Read more about the program held last year, by an attendee, Emily Lecke:
“The staff made this a wonderful event, from the presentation to the great spread of authentic foods and making crafts! I really loved decorating the sugar skulls and the opportunity to dress up and paint my face. This event was probably one of my overall favorite library programs as it taught me about a very special tradition. I don’t have the same fears I once had of spirits. I am planning to make an altar to honor my grandparents, whom I’ve never met – it makes me happy to make an altar and show my love for them with treats and a meaningful display.”
